Science
fiction includes the hardcore, imaginatively embellished
technological/scientific novel as well as fiction that is even
slightly futuristic (often with an after-the-holocaust milieu -
nuclear, environmental, extraterrestrial, genocidal). An element
much valued by editors who acquire for the literary expression of
this cross-media genre is the ability of the author to introduce
elements that transcend and extend conventional insight.

THE ANNUNAKI ENIGMA: ARMAGEDDON 2012
by E. Gaylon McCollough &
Symm H. McCord
Somewhere near the end of the year 2012 world governments are on the
precipice of all out war. The United States has become a socialist
state – a part of a "One World Order". The global economies are
falling apart and there is an effort to correct a pseudo-scientific
theory that the world is suffering from global warming brought on by
the industrial countries. The politicians have attempted to create
a significant revenue source by correlating the warming theory to
the burning of carbon-based fuels. A carbon tax is invented and
those in power are pleased. This adds further injury to the failing
world economies.
As this cataclysmic series of events further destroys the once
vigorous monetary systems of the world, healthcare in the United
States becomes state run. National pride there begins wane and
physicians leave their practices. A once enlarging group of senior
citizens begins to dwindle as a result of the effects of government
panels assign to assure "financial expediency" in the allowing of
certain medications, procedures and studies. In reality this
creates Death Panels.
In December the world is alerted to the arrival of a group of
extra-terrestrials who claim to be our Creators. They are angered
by our state of affairs and recognize our need for a new form of
energy which they share with us. They only allow governments that
have been in compliance with the original laws handed down to Moses
to use this new energy. This angers the other nations.
A group known as the Annunaki or errant angels arrives and foments
the mixture to the boiling point which explodes over the nation of
Israel. Several battles develop which culminate in a nuclear
explosion over a mound known as Har Megiddo in that nation. The
Creator releases the Seven Seals of Revelation and ultimately
subdues the rogue nations and captures the Annunaki. The biblical
prophesies are fulfilled and the world accepts the consequences and
is rewarded with one thousand years of peace.

SECOND CHANCE: WARLORD OF IFREQUEH
By R. Richard
Justin
Imperiale will need to fly a grav sled down the great river of the
South Continent. He suspects that Lord Vorell may have created
a special crop for a tribe called Chachapoya and perhaps for other
tribes. The Chachapoya were driven from their homeland and now want
to return. Justin tricks the Association of Nations into setting up
support depots for the return of the Chachapoya so that Justin can
explore the great river for signs of Lord Vorell's bounty.
While Justin
waits, he sets up trade between his mountain crest Empire and the
rest of Corin.
War then brews
in an
Old World South Continent called Ifrequeh. There's a Temple of
Vorell in Ifrequeh that supposedly contains one of the scrolls that
Justin is seeking. He decides to involve himself in the war in Ifrequeh, in order to possibly acquire another scroll.
Justin travels to Ifrequeh, along with several Commandos and six
grav sleds. The grav sleds are fitted with fake wooden wings and
noisemakers to resemble giant vampire bats. The fake vampire bats
scatter the mobs that threaten to conquer the South of Ifrequeh and
the armies of the South are then able to deal with the remnants of
the mobs. During the attack of the mobs, Justin acquires, for safe
keeping, the scroll he seeks from the High Priest of a Temple of
Vorell that comes under attack.
With the help of Norva Lemni, Justin then gets food and medical
shipments headed North to help the people whom the mobs looted.
He then forces a Warlord, responsible for at least some of the
mobs into a spear fight. Justin then uses the results of the spear
fight to recruit a tribe call Ngoba to seize a government arms depot
in Zimboja. With the Ngoba in control of the depot, the
political situation is balanced with several tribes too evenly
matched for a war to be profitable.
However, there is a second Warlord and he sends a 'leopard man' to
kill Justin. Justin uses the situation to his advantage.
He then learns, through an Ngoba Chief, that there's a
large gold mine in the North of Zimboja. Justin then manages to
convince the Prime Minister of Zimboja to grant him the mining
concession, in return for solving problems at the mine. Justin and
Ngoba warriors then seize the mine.
Justin then becomes involved with a sisterhood
organization, in which at least the leaders have paranormal
powers. The gaining of the paranormal powers came about due to a
visit by a white man, almost certainly Lord Vorell.
With information gained from the sisterhood, Justin then
disposes of the remaining Warlord.
Justin still has his second chance!

SHEDDING LIGHT
by Michael
Edelson
A combination of faster-than-light travel and an energy field
telescope made it possible: outrun the light leaving the Earth
and gaze back in time. For US Navy Commander Jack Roberts, it is
the opportunity of a lifetime. Chosen as a last minute
replacement, all he has to do is get the ship and its crew home in
one piece and a promising career in space travel is his for
the taking. But when the expedition is plagued with inexplicable and
unlikely failures, the captain and crew suspect sabotage. The
motive seems obvious, as the ability to look back in time raises a
question that could undermine the faith of billions; did God
really create the world? For the first time in history that
question can be answered, assuming Jack can find the saboteur
before he or she destroys the ship and kills them all.

implanted in Race so that he could infiltrate the crime syndicates.
Ralph is a sociopath, immune to the anti‑violence conditioning
everyone receives at the age of ten. The Race personality retains
control of his body until Astra, Race's secret fantasy, is slipped
protoerotoskillen, a drug that turns her into a love-slave. To save
Astra, Race releases the Ralph personality so that he can force
Todd, Astra’s handler, to tell him how to counter the drug.
Race also forces
Todd to give evidence against the crime syndicate to the police.
Lois, a dirty cop
breaks Todd out of police custody and takes him to Percival, the
local crime boss. Percival becomes aware of Ralph's existence and
decides to increase Race's stress level so that the Ralph

towards their destruction.
Will Race realise
his loved ones are under attack in time to save them? Is Astra's
love real or drug induced, and will it be enough to hold Race’s
sanity together? What does Ralph think of this situation, and can a
sociopath learn to love? Most importantly, how can a man who can't
hit back defend what he holds dear?

SECOND CHANCE:
KING OF THE SKY
by R. Richard
In the eighth book in this
action packed series a telephone call sends Justin Imperiale to the
South Continent. The caller is a man who claims to be from planet Glyon. Justin
flies to the South Continent to talk to the man about re-establishing an
ancient Empire along the mountain crests.
Justin meets the man and
convinces him that he, Justin, is the King of The Sky, a legendary
warrior who can defeat any man in combat. The man then returns to Glyon.
Justin is contacted by a man who claims to be from the South Continent
and also claims to have information regarding a major drug shipment, due
to leave the South Continent. The information is supposed to lead
Justin into a trap. However, he is clever enough to avoid the trap and
seize a couple of drug shipments.
The men from Glyon return. They might be willing to try
to set up an Empire, but first they must talk to a High Priest of the
Temple of Vorell.
While waiting to make the trip
to see the High Priest of the Temple of Vorell, Justin is attacked in
his hotel room, but escapes. He and the men from Glyon then travel
to talk with the High Priest of the Temple of Vorell. It's decided that
the people of Glyon will come through the Gate and try to establish a
new Empire. The capital will be near the old Empire capital city of
Corzaro. The start of the new Empire will be financed by gold and
emeralds, mined from jungle mines, discovered by the ancient Empire.
The need to operate mine in
the jungle leads Justin and Tapu, the leader of the men from Glyon, into
a conference with the jungle people. Justin reinforces his standing as
King of The Sky. Tapu then begins to set up the
new Empire.
Justin returns to Zaya to
crush the last warlord and also to obtain fighter aircraft for the new
Empire. Glyon mechanics go with Justin and refurbish the aircraft.
Glyon pilot then fly the aircraft back to the South Continent and are
attacked on the way.
Justin discovers that the
Association of Nations betrayed the Glyon flight and he retaliates by
seizing bank accounts.
The Sky Path people attack the
Glyon, who use advanced weapons to defeat the attack with little loss of
life. Justin makes it appear as if the magic of the King of The Sky
caused the defeat and builds the image of the new Empire among the
original inhabitants. After the initial defeat, Justin leads a raid on
a Sky Path camp and again defeats the Sky Path people. Justin also
finds evidence that the Association of Nations is secretly funding the
Sky Path. Justin then must fight a warrior, recruited by the Sky Path to
prove his tight the title King of The Sky.
With the Sky Path well on the
way to its defeat, Justin now turns to the problem of the President of
Alvarado. Justin has promised to make the sky fall on the President.
So, he uses the space patrol boats and his anti-gravity machines to do a
bit of asteroid mining. Astronomers have found a nickel iron asteroid
not too far from Corin. He arranges for the asteroid to be dropped on
the Presidential Compound of Alvarado. The asteroid ends the problem of
the President and the distribution of the nickel iron will create jobs
for the subjects of the Empire.
Justin then gets Tapu and the
President of the Association of Nations to agree to return a mysterious
tribe of original inhabitants from the jungle to the mountain crests.

THE MÖBIUS
STRIPTEASE
by
Carolyn Haley
Although estranged
from her twin sister Blanche over belief in the
supernatural, Madeline LaRue still runs to her
side when Blanche calls for help. Strange
phenomena are occurring at New Atlantis, the
fortress home of Blanche’s lover, Dru
Montclair—a superstar celebrity whose mission is
to inspire global peace through music and the
model community he has created at New Atlantis.
Madeline is the only person who can help,
because she is a powerful psychic. She sees this
gift as a curse more than a boon and has fought
to suppress it since childhood. Her faith lies
in science, not in forces she can neither see
nor understand.
But to help Blanche, she must
willingly confront her power and learn its secrets: how it works;
why no one can prove psychic power exists; and why, through history,
the bearers of such powers have been ridiculed, persecuted, or
destroyed.
More frightening for her, Madeline
must learn to embrace and harness her own power in order to
transform the negative energies massing around Blanche and Dru into
positive energies, before the gathering evil ripples outward into
the world. In the process, she must untangle star-crossed lovers and
identify her soulmate among them, for those relationships seem to be
generating all the energies involved.
Her faith in science finally leads
Madeline to the Möbius strip, a mathematical symbol, which
transports her beyond occultism to the transition point between
physics and metaphysics. There the truth awaits, if she can survive
long enough to find it.

SECOND
CHANCE: KING OF GOLOMON
by R. Richard
Justin Imperiale finds that
there are those who are growing and storing illegal weed in Zaya and not
paying Justin his taxes. He investigates and then sets up a plan to raid
a main weed storehouse in Zaya. The raid of the weed warehouse goes
well and Justin gains weed, money and more weed from a truck delivering
the stuff to the warehouse.
Justin then leads a small
scale military expedition into the area where some of the locals are
growing illegal weed. Justin and his men then seize all the property of
the weed growing drug lords, for non-payment of taxes. He finds that
there's to be a major drug shipment up from the South of Zaya and
through the territories of the few warlords who still control parts of
Zaya. With the help of professional train controllers, Justin plans a
raid on the drug train that's to transport the contraband through Zaya.
With the help of the train controllers, his Commandos and his Voya
subjects, who live in the southern jungles of Zaya, Justin steals a
train in Golomon, to the South of Zaya, and hijacks the drug train
cargo.
Justin gets the stolen
train into Zaya, but the train then suffers what the train people call a
'hot box' on one of the wheel assemblies of a car. The train can't be
moved further without damage. Justin, his Commandos and the Voya
set up a defence for the stalled train. Army forces from
Golomon,to the South of Zaya, then try to pursue the stolen train.
There's another jungle war and Justin's forces rout the Golomon forces.
Justin goes to the Association of Nations people in Mervon. There's a
considerable flap about stolen trains.
Justin flim flams the
President of the Association of Nations and lets the President know that
there will probably be trouble in Golomon. The trouble will involve
Justin's Voya people and Justin will intervene.
Justin then asks the
Association of Nations to expel Golomon, after he proves that the train
in carrying drugs. Of course, Justin knows that the Association of
Nations won't expel Golomon, but that the discovery of drug smuggling
will make further Golomon invasion of Zaya totally impractical
politically.
A patrol boat arrives from
out of space, piloted by a single, very beautiful woman. The woman is
interrogated by Head Priests of the Temples of Averon and found to be
very dangerous trap for Justin. He arranges to abandon the woman
where she'll be captured by the Sky Path people, an original inhabitant
revolutionary group. The woman and the Sky Path people will neutralize
each other for a while. He flies down to the South of Zaya and,
with Voya warriors, invades Golomon. Justin and a pitifully small force
manage to fight a delaying action, until Zayan soldiers can arrive.
The arrival of the Zayan
soldiers results in a rout of the Golomon Army and Justin becomes the
King of Golomon. In the wrap up of the conquest of Golomon, Justin
flies a very sick Voya woman to a hospital in the very South of Golomon.
There, he becomes involved with Mokasato original inhabitants.
Justin then enters the
Temple of The Mad King and, as a result, becomes the King of The Sky for
the Mokasato. With the help of the Mokasato, Justin then conquests
Helgryn, the country to the South of Golomon.
Justin then begins the
running of his new Kingdoms in Golomon and Helgryn to benefit the
citizens and not just a few rich families.
He then receives a message,
in the Galactic language from the South Continent. The sender claims to
be from the planet Glyon.

SECOND CHANCE: DUKE OF AVERON
by
R. Richard
In this action packed 6th book in the
series, Justin manages to convert a war missile to a space delivery
vehicle, in order to sell his anti-gravity units to advanced
civilizations.
The successful space mission
results in Justin being offered the title of Duke of Moxon, by the
King. However, Justin waits until he's offered the title of Duke of
Averon.
Moxon is a relatively impoverished area of southern
Averon that become Justin's assignment. They grow cotton in Moxon.
However, Justin knows of a 'royal cotton,' grown in the South
Continent. Justin and some volunteers from 'The Institute for Cotton
Research' then fly down to the South Continent to grab some royal
cotton. They get the cotton, but Justin has to be abandoned in a jungle
full of hostile natives.
Justin outruns the natives and, in the process, finds what
appears to be two star gates. He also finds a Glyon sigil. The find
reinforces the idea that an ancient high mountain civilization was at
least alien ruled. He then works on his duties as King and also works on
developing sword skills, using the sword he obtained from the temple in
the jungle.
Then, trouble erupts in Zaya. A pretender to the throne
of Zaya wants a war. Justin easily defeats the pretender's army, but
then has to face a sword fight with the pretender. Having won the
military battle, Justin is faced with finding work for the conquered.
He manages to get some low level advanced civilization technology to
solve the problems.
A former Arquellian battlewagon, patrolling the space
around Corin then intercepts a shipload of refugees from Ruanth in a
stolen space vehicle. Justin and Norva Lemni then aid the refugees. In
the process,Justin 'acquires' a patrol boat from the space vehicle. He
also becomes a pilot and learns a bit about interstellar travel.
Justin then gets some staff from the King of Averon, so
that he can manage his affairs as the Duke of Averon. In return,Justin
is asked to solve the problem of a march of impoverished people from
Zaya into Averon. He solves the problem and then needs to find jobs for
the Zayans. Justin then sets up sales of Zayan products in Averon. In
the process he meets some Averonean film stars.
The refugees from Ruanth are now pursued by a legendary
demon. Justin fights the demon in an epic sword battle. At the end of
the sword battle the body of the demon is retrieved by a mysterious
being. Justin for the first time glimpses what just might be a demi-god.
He still has business affairs to tend to, but the future looks bright
and he still has his second chance!
